Great Belize Blue Hole: Immerse yourself in the great blue underwater wonder in Belize!
The famous adventurer Jacques Cousteau helped Belize to turn into a real tourist attraction, when the 1971th year introduced the Big Blue Marine hole as one of the best places for diving in the world.
It has an almost perfect circular shape, and with its 125 meters depth and diameter of 300 meters, is the largest natural marine hole attraction and what it definitely is rarely seen.
This blue “hole” is located in the center of coral reef in Belize, a few dozen kilometers from the coastline.
Perfect circle with crystal blue water occurred as a result of destruction of the seabed during the ice age, when the place had a dry cave system filled with stalactites and columns.
The hole was crumbling at least four times in the period between 10,000 and 150,000 years. And each time the level of the ocean rises up, in a cave filled with water, and the bottom was becoming deeper.
Finally the roof collapsed and the whole formation and the level is raised to the current level. Today this system is considered a unique vertical cave.
This process of creation of the Great Blue Hole Marine gave spectacular color that attracts numerous visitors around the world and divers explore not only because of the beauty, but also because of the diverse marine fauna that can be found only in this place.
